Emergency Alert System (EAS)

A national public warning system that, together with other emergency notification mechanisms, is part of an overall national public alert and warning system under the jurisdiction of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), an agency of the Department of Homeland Security. EAS is a newer version of a national public warning system that replaced the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) in 1994.
